Questions

How much does eBay take from a sale?

In most categories, 13.6% of the total the buyer pays (item, shipping and sales tax) plus $0.40 per order. A $50 item with $8 shipping and 7% sales tax totals $62.06, so the fees are $8.44 + $0.40 = $8.84.

Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?

Yes. The final value fee is worked out on the total amount of the sale, which includes the shipping the buyer pays and the sales tax. The tax itself goes to the state, but the fee on it comes out of your payout.

Is it free to list on eBay?

Most sellers get 250 listings a month with no insertion fee. After that, a listing costs $0.35 in most categories, whether or not it sells. The final value fee is only charged when the item sells.

What are eBay’s fees on sneakers?

Athletic sneakers that sell for $150 or more are charged 8% with no per-order fee. Below $150, they’re charged the standard 13.6% plus the per-order fee.
