Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Lister is an iPhone app that writes resale listings from photos of the items you sell. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it and the choices you have. We never sell your data, we don't show ads and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Account. You can start without signing in. We create an anonymous account ID so your listings can be stored. If you choose to save your account, we also keep the email address you use or, with Sign in with Apple, the address Apple shares with us (your own or a private relay address, your choice).
- Photos. The photos you take or choose of the items you're selling, or of an item you're thinking of buying (the Worth it? price check).
- Listings. The titles, descriptions, prices, costs, fees and sale status you create and edit.
- Usage. How many listings and price checks you've generated and when, to apply the free listing and fair-use limits.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription or trial. We never see your payment details.
- Support messages. What you write to us in the app, with your app version, iOS version, device model, plan status and whether your account is saved, so we don't have to ask.
- Push notification token. If you allow notifications, a device token so we can tell you when we've replied to you.
- Website form. If you use the form on our support page: your message, the name you choose to give (optional) and your browser type.
- Crash reports. Technical details when the app crashes, such as the screen and error. They don't include your photos, listings or anything you type.
How your photos are used
Lister asks before it sends anything. The first time you write a listing or run a price check, the app shows "Allow Lister AI?", which names our AI providers and explains that, to write your listing or price the item, Lister sends your photos and item details to them (see Service providers below). Nothing is sent unless you tap Allow.
Price checks (Worth it?) work the same way, with one difference: the result and a reduced copy of the photo stay on your phone only (Recent checks) until you remove them or sign out. The server keeps the result for 30 days so a repeated check of the same photos costs you nothing, then deletes it.
Your photos aren't used to train AI models, and we never sell your data. The provider processes them only to return the listing text and doesn't keep them beyond a short abuse-monitoring window. Reduced-size copies are kept on your phone and backed up to your Lister account so they're there if you change phones. They're private to your account and are deleted when you delete the listing or your account.
Listings are written by AI and can contain mistakes, so review them before posting. Where a brand, size or model isn't clearly visible in your photos, Lister marks it for you to check rather than guessing.
To measure and improve accuracy, we keep what Lister AI first wrote for each listing and may compare it with your final edits, including by running Lister AI on your listing photos again, but only while Lister AI is on. A member of our team may look at listings and photos for this purpose. This is never used to train AI models and never sold.
To return the same listing when you use the very same photos again, we keep a copy of each generated listing for 30 days, even if you delete the listing, and then delete it automatically.
You can turn Lister AI off at any time under Account › Privacy › Lister AI. With it off, nothing is sent and Lister can't write new listings; you'll be asked again if you try.
Publishing to eBay
If you connect eBay, you sign in on eBay's own page and choose whether to let Lister list items for you. Lister uses eBay's official APIs only. Your eBay login (the access and refresh tokens eBay issues) is kept only on your iPhone, in its secure keychain. Our servers pass it to eBay for the single request that needs it and never store or log it. Your eBay username is shown in the app and also stays on your phone.
When you publish, Lister sends eBay what the review screen shows: the title, description, price, category, condition, item specifics, the web addresses of your backed-up photos, the ZIP code the item ships from and your shipping and return choices (or your own eBay policies). Your shipping setup is saved on your phone. The eBay item number of each listing you publish is also kept only on your phone, so the app can link to it, end it for you when the item sells elsewhere, and check whether it sold on eBay: when you open Inventory (at most every 30 minutes), the app sends those item numbers with your eBay login, our server asks eBay for your sold items from the last 60 days and returns only the matching ones with their sale price and date. Lister's servers keep no eBay data.
Disconnect at any time under Account › eBay › Disconnect, which deletes your eBay login from your phone. Signing out or deleting your Lister account does the same, and also deletes the saved eBay item numbers. Listings already on eBay stay on eBay and are managed there.
Support replies
Messages you send in the app's Support screen or by email to support@getlister.app may be answered first by an automated assistant (run on Google Gemini) that uses our own help articles. The app tells you this before you send anything. Anything it can't answer confidently is passed to our team, with names and contact details removed, and answered in the same place. Our team may use an AI assistant to help look into it and draft the reply.
Service providers
We use a small number of companies to run Lister. They process data only on our behalf and only for the purposes below.
How long we keep data
We keep your listings, photos and support messages until you delete them or delete your account. Copies of generated listings kept for repeat photos are deleted after 30 days. Website form messages are kept for up to 12 months, and crash reports for up to 90 days. Unsaved (anonymous) accounts that you stop using stay stored, but can't be reached from another phone.
Welcome back after a reinstall
When you save a Lister account, your iPhone's keychain remembers that it has one and how you sign in (Sign in with Apple, or the email address you used), so reinstalling Lister can welcome you back instead of starting over. This stays on your iPhone. Deleting your account removes it.
Keeping the free tier fair
To stop scripts and fake accounts from using up the free listing and free price checks, Lister uses Apple's App Attest. Your iPhone creates a key that Apple certifies as the genuine Lister app; the app keeps its id in the iPhone's keychain, and our server keeps that key id, its public key, and how many free listings and checks it has used. It identifies this install of the app on this phone, not you, and is used only for this. We also count free uses per network each day, stored as a keyed hash we can't turn back into the address and kept for 7 days. Deleting your account removes your account from the key's record but keeps its free-use count, so the free tier can't be reset that way.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Account › Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, every listing and sale record, your photo backups and your support messages, including the copies passed to our team, and our subscription provider's record of your account. Crash reports aren't linked to your listings and expire on their own. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. Manage that in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
Children
Lister isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, tell us through Support and we'll delete it.
Your US privacy rights
Depending on your state, you can ask to know, access, correct or delete your personal data, and to appeal our decision. We don't sell your personal data or share it for targeted advertising. Most of this you can do yourself in the app (edit or delete listings, or Account › Delete account). For anything else, ask in the app under Account › Support. We won't treat you differently for making a request.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. For significant changes, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
Contact
The fastest way to reach us is in the app: Account › Support. You can also email support@getlister.app or use our support page.
